About Threads Downloader
One job, done carefully: take a link to a public Threads or Instagram post and hand you the video or photos inside it.
That is the whole product. There is no dashboard, no media library, no companion app and no second feature waiting behind an upgrade prompt. You paste a link, check what the post contains, and save the file you want.
Why it exists
Threads and Instagram show media publicly but give you few ways to keep a copy, sometimes not even of your own posts. Many tools that fill the gap make the trade worse: a timer before the file, an account before the download, a logo stamped in the corner, or an “HD” button that leads to the same small file behind a paywall.
None of that is needed. Reading a public post and passing on one file is a small problem, and it can be solved without a watermark, a paywall or collecting anything about the person asking. Threads Downloader is that version.
How it works
- Your link is checked. Only post links on threads.com, threads.net and instagram.com are accepted. Anything else is refused before a request leaves our server.
- The post's public details are read. These are the same details the post page itself uses, listing every rendition the source offers: several sizes for a photo, a few quality levels for a video.
- You preview, then save. Previews and playback load straight from Meta's servers so they appear quickly. When you save, the file is streamed through our proxy, because browsers will not download a file from another site's address, and so Meta sees our server rather than you.
Our principles
Nothing is stored
Downloads pass through the proxy without touching storage, so there is no archive of what anyone saved to leak, sell or hand over.
Nothing is tracked
No accounts, ads, analytics or cookies. The only thing saved on your device is whether you prefer the light or dark theme.
Nothing is altered
No watermark, no re-encoding and no fake upscaling. The rendition you pick is the exact file Threads or Instagram delivered.
Nothing is gated
No sign-up wall, countdown timer, download queue or paid tier hiding the HD option. Every feature is free for everyone.
The limits, plainly
- Public posts only. Private accounts, follower-only posts and age-restricted content cannot be reached. Doing so would mean pretending to be a signed-in follower, and we will not add that.
- The source sets the quality ceiling. The largest rendition offered is the largest one Meta serves, not the original from the creator's camera. No downloader can go beyond it, and one that claims to is guessing.
- It depends on pages we do not control. When Meta changes how Threads or Instagram deliver content, lookups can break until we update the tool.
- Lookups are rate limited. Each address can make 30 a minute, which stops one script from getting the whole service blocked upstream.
- Stories are not guaranteed. Instagram Stories and Highlights can require a signed-in session on our side, so they may not always resolve.
Using what you download
A download button is not a licence. The person who posted a video owns it, and saving it does not change that. Keeping your own posts and personal offline copies is what the tool is for; republishing someone else's work is a copyright problem however you got the file. The Terms of Use and Copyright & DMCA Policy have the details.
