What we receive

When you look up a post, three things reach our server:

• The link you paste. It is used to fetch that post and nothing else.
• Your IP address. Unavoidable for any web request. We use it only to rate limit lookups so one visitor cannot exhaust the service for everyone.
• Ordinary request metadata — user agent, timestamp, response status — as written to short-lived operational logs.

The downloader does not ask for your name, email or anything else, because none of it is needed to do the job.

What we keep

Media files: never. When you click download, the file is streamed from Meta's content network through our proxy to your browser as it arrives. It is not written to disk, not copied to storage, and no history of your downloads is recorded.

Post metadata: a few minutes. The list of media in a post — resolutions, durations, caption — is cached briefly so that repeating the same lookup is fast and so we do not hammer Meta. It expires on its own, typically within ten minutes.

Your theme choice: in your browser only. Light or dark mode is stored in localStorage on your device. It never leaves it.

Who else is involved

Cloudflare runs the network this service is deployed on and processes requests on our behalf as an infrastructure provider.

Meta (Threads and Instagram) is where the media comes from. Two things are worth being precise about here:

• Downloads are proxied. Our server fetches the file, so your IP address, referrer and browser fingerprint are not exposed to Meta when you save something.
• Preview thumbnails are not. The small preview images in the results grid load directly from Meta's CDN, which means your browser does contact it for those. This is a deliberate trade for speed, and it is the reason this paragraph exists.

Cookies

Threads Downloader sets no cookies. There is no analytics script, no session cookie and no third-party tag on this site.

Contact correspondence

If you email the address on the Contact page, your address, message, and any details you choose to include are handled by your email provider and ours. That correspondence is separate from downloader requests and may be retained as long as needed to answer, investigate a report, protect the service, or meet legal obligations. Do not send passwords, session cookies, or unnecessary sensitive data.

Your requests

Since we hold no downloader account and no profile, there is nothing to export or delete from an account — the only downloader records are transient logs and a cache that clears itself. If you have a question about this or about contact correspondence, use the Contact page.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
